Bernadette Trainor

I started dancing at the age of 9 along with my sisters Tricia and Debbie.  We thoroughly enjoyed dancing for the Griffin-O’Loughlin school in London and competed in many competitions for solos, ceili and figure. With hard work, determination and lots of practice I won the following titles; All Ireland, All England, All Scotland, Great Britain and North American Championships’ and I achieved the ultimate goal of winning the Senior Ladies World Championship in 1986 and 1987.

Having won all majors during my dancing career I decided to move on and in 1988 I took my teachers exam becoming a TCRG and set up the Trainor School in North and East London.  As the school grew in 1996 I coaxed my sister Debbie Trainor to take her teacher’s exam and join the school and more recently our niece Katrina O’Leary TCRG has since joined us.

In 1996 I became an ADCRG and have since adjudicated many major events globally, including the World Championships and have not forgotten the hard work and dedication necessary from teachers, parents and dancers alike to partake in such a prestigious event.

I am married with a wonderful 9 year old daughter Mairéad who absolutely loves Irish Dancing (surprise, surprise) and at her young age is proving to be a successful competitor and is already following in my footsteps!

May I take this opportunity to wish all competitors taking part at this year’s World Championships the best of luck and enjoy!!
