She was born and reared in Limerick City on the banks of the Shannon . She started dancing at age 6 and from then dancing has been a consuming passion. She likes every form of dance, especially tap and tango (after Irish Dancing of course!)
She spent many happy wonderful years in the Nolan School where she was a very successful competitor and has lots of happy memories. She won the Senior Ladies Munster Championship twice, first in its inaugural year 1968. She won the famed Munster belt in 1970 and was third in the Senior Ladies at the very first Oireactas Rince na Cruinne.
She taught dancing for 23 years but gave it up some years ago to concentrate on other projects.
She wishes to dedicate her time judging at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne, Philadelphia to her best friend from her dancing years Frances Fleming T.C.R.G, a very well known Limerick dancer and teacher who passed away last month and will be sadly missed.
Brid wishes the of Irish luck to all the competitors and An Coimisiuin at the Oireachtas in Philadelphia . |
