Michael Toal

Born and raised in Belfast I began my dancing experiences with the O`Connor School of Irish Dancing at a young age with Vourneen and Eamon O` Connor ( RIP ).

I was Belfast Champion at the age of 12 and have numerous Ulster and All Ireland team titles. I have competed at Ulster, All Ireland and World Championships in both solo and teams, most memorable placing 2nd in the Ulster Championships solo and winning at the 1st World Championships when, ( unknown to many ), there were Jig in Couples and Three hand competitions.

Having married I emigrated to Western Canada in 1981 bringing with me my TCRG where I have assisted numerous teachers in the Region obtain their TCRG.

I was the first Regional Director of Western Canada as a region with the Commission. I continue to teach and I am now in my 20 th year of Adjudicating. I have judged numerous Regional Qualifying competitions and North American Nationals and I have adjudicated previously at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne.

I am especially proud to have been selected to adjudicate at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2009 when I note that my own Dancing Teacher is on the selected panel. I wish all the competitors at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne good luck in their competitions.
